Privacy Policy
Last updated: 21 July 2026
This policy covers the Urlyze marketing website at urlyze.io.
What we collect here
This is a static informational website. It has no sign-up forms and sets no tracking cookies. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics — a privacy-first, cookieless service — to count page views in aggregate. It does not fingerprint you or track you across sites, and we do not build profiles of visitors.
The Urlyze application and API
The Urlyze product (app.urlyze.io) and API (api.urlyze.io) are separate services. When you create an account or submit data there, the data handling described in your account agreement applies — not this page.
The Urlyze browser extension
The "Urlyze — Scan Before You Click" browser extension is designed to see as little as possible. It cannot read the pages you visit: it has no access to page content, your browsing history, or your tabs. It only ever handles a URL at the moment you explicitly ask for a scan.
What the extension sends. When you scan a link, that single URL is sent to the Urlyze API (api.urlyze.io) to be analyzed, and the verdict is returned. That is the only server the extension ever contacts. There is no telemetry, no analytics, and no third-party requests.
Connected mode (optional). If you choose to connect an account, you paste your own Urlyze API key into the extension's options. The key is stored locally in your browser and is sent only to api.urlyze.io, as an authentication header, so that your scans are attributed to your own workspace and kept private. It is never sent anywhere else and never appears in logs, notifications, or links.
Download watch (optional, off by default). If you turn this feature on, the extension reads the source URL of a file you download so it can offer to scan that URL before you open the file. It reads only the download's origin URL and basic metadata — never the contents of the file — and it submits nothing unless you have enabled the feature.
What the extension stores. Locally in your browser only: your most recent scan results, in-progress scan state, your settings, and (in connected mode) your API key. None of this is transmitted anywhere except the scan URL and, in connected mode, your API key — both only to api.urlyze.io.
Anonymous scans. If you scan without connecting an account, the scan is anonymous and may appear in the public Urlyze community feed without any identifier tying it to you. Connect an API key if you want your scans kept private to your workspace.
The scan results themselves are produced by the Urlyze API; how that service handles submitted URLs is governed by the Urlyze application and API terms, not by this website policy.
